Approvals for employment transactions

Lesson 113 of 175 · 14 min

Review the approval rules for a delivered employment transaction, build a rule routing promotions to the manager's manager, build one with a condition — route only above a grade threshold — configure a parallel approval, submit, approve and view the history. Then configure secured approval notifications so notification content respects data security, and show rejection and resubmission. Secured notifications matter, and the failure is a data leak through the back door. An approval notification containing salary detail, sent to somebody who cannot see salary in the application, has defeated the security you spent a whole module building. Configure this deliberately, not by accepting a default. Approval complexity is the most common over-engineering in HCM. Start with two levels. Add on evidence. And every rule needs escalation and delegation, or transactions stall behind a leaver or somebody on holiday.
