Implementing Global HR: From Enterprise Model to Live Workforce · Module 10 · The Employment Model and Assignments
Assignment attributes
Lesson 103 of 175 · 13 min
Walk every section of an assignment — position or job, department, grade, location, manager, working hours, FTE, assignment category, contract details — and see which attributes are synchronised from the position and therefore read-only. Configure assignment number generation, make a date-effective assignment change, look at the assignment history view, and configure the options that alter assignment behaviour. Assignment category — permanent, fixed-term, temporary — drives eligibility and reporting. Configure the values the client actually uses, not the delivered list. The manager on the assignment is what drives the manager hierarchy, and therefore your security. That is where security and employment meet, and it is the answer to a whole category of "why can they not see this person". And assignment history is the audit trail. Show HR users how to read it during client training — it is the tool that answers "who changed this" without a ticket.
