Implementing Project Portfolio Management: From Organization Structure to Recognized Revenue · Module 17 · Project Execution Management
The enterprise project structure
Lesson 178 of 198 · 12 min
Create an enterprise project structure. Build a hierarchy grouping projects, add projects to nodes, and show portfolio reporting rolling up the structure. Show a project in more than one place, if supported — or explain the constraint. The EPS is how a portfolio is organized for the execution side. Programmes, portfolios, business lines. Keep it shallow, for the same reasons as every hierarchy in this catalogue. SOMEBODY OWNS ADDING NEW PROJECTS TO IT. Without an owner, half the portfolio ends up unclassified — and a portfolio view missing half the portfolio is worse than no portfolio view.
