Enable serial control on an item and show the control level options — at receipt, at issue, throughout. Receive serialized stock, issue a specific serial, show serial history, then show the operational load: serializing a high-volume item. Serial control is heavier than lot control. One record per physical unit. Appropriate for high-value, warrantied, individually-tracked items. Inappropriate for fasteners — and clients occasionally propose it anyway. The high-volume demonstration is how you show them rather than tell them. The control level determines how much of the lifecycle is tracked. Full lifecycle tracking is the most useful and the most demanding.
