Transaction types and reasons

Lesson 109 of 188 · 12 min

Review the delivered transaction types and their source types. Create transaction reasons for adjustment, scrap, damage and count variance, set reason-level accounting where supported, show reasons appearing on a transaction, and show reason-based reporting. Reasons are how you find out why inventory moved. Without them, an adjustment report is a list of numbers with no story. With them, the controller can see that sixty per cent of adjustments are damage in one subinventory — which is a real, actionable finding. That example is the argument for the whole lesson. Keep the reason list short enough that operators choose accurately. Twenty reasons produces garbage — the same mechanism as action reasons elsewhere: people pick the first plausible one. Make reasons mandatory on adjustments. Optional means blank.
