Implementing Manufacturing and Materials Management: From Empty Plant to Costed Work Order · Module 11 · Inventory Management
On-hand, availability and reservations
Lesson 111 of 188 · 13 min
View on-hand by organization, subinventory and locator. Show the difference between on-hand and available quantity. Create a reservation and show availability drop while on-hand does not. Show reservations from a work order, show non-nettable subinventory stock excluded from availability, then show the on-hand drill to transaction history. On-hand and available are different numbers, and the difference is the most common "the system is wrong" complaint. On-hand is what is physically there. Available is what is not already committed. The reservation demonstration is the point: one number moves, the other does not. The transaction history drill is the diagnostic tool for every inventory discrepancy investigation. Learn it as a habit, not as a feature.
