Implementing Global HR: From Enterprise Model to Live Workforce · Module 6 · Jobs and Positions

What breaks

Lesson 71 of 175 · 4 min

"I cannot hire into this position." Check in this order. Is the position active and effective on the hire date? Is the headcount already filled? Is the grade valid for that job and that position? Is the position in a reference data set the business unit can see? Is the position's department active? Does your security profile include that position? Note that three of the six reach back into earlier modules. Then seven failures. HR cannot change the department on an assignment — a synchronised attribute, now read-only, working as configured; the fix is a conversation about what should be synchronised, which takes ten minutes if the matrix was filled in and a workshop if it was not. Enabling synchronisation changed eight hundred assignments overnight — expected behaviour, unexpected to the client. Prevention is to test in a copy and communicate before enabling: a warning nobody was given is indistinguishable
