Nine objects, and two of them get confused with each other constantly. Item — the definition of a thing you buy, make, sell or consume. Item class — the grouping that determines available attributes, templates, security and rules. Item template — a saved set of attribute values applied at creation, the mechanism that makes item creation fast and consistent. Item organization assignment — the record that makes an item usable in a given inventory organization. Item attributes — the properties, split between master level and organization level. Item status — controls what you can do with the item: transact, purchase, build, sell. Lifecycle phase — where the item sits in its life: design, production, obsolete. Item structure — the next module. And item category — classification for reporting and functional purposes, and distinct from item class.
