The project unit

A project unit is the operating entity for project management. The boundary within which projects are numbered, and within which a common set of project behaviours applies. IT IS NOT A BUSINESS UNIT. The business unit is the FINANCIAL operating entity — it holds costing and billing configuration and ties to a ledger. The project unit is the PROJECT operating entity. Why both exist, and it is genuinely a two-way argument. A single business unit may run several distinct project operations with different numbering, different calendars and different rules. And conversely, one project operation may transact across several business units. Separating the two objects lets both happen. One object could not. What the project unit owns.
