Implementing Project Portfolio Management: From Organization Structure to Recognized Revenue · Module 3 · Organization Structures
Project unit options
Lesson 34 of 198 · 14 min
Open the project unit options and walk each group. Set the options governing project creation and behaviour, calendar and period behaviour, and what project managers can and cannot change. Enable team members to enter project time and configure the related option. Set the option restricting expense entry to active tasks only — and explain the control it provides. Save, and show the effect on a project. "EMPLOYEES CAN ENTER EXPENSES FOR ACTIVE TASKS ONLY" IS A SMALL OPTION WITH A REAL CONTROL BENEFIT. It stops costs landing on closed tasks, which is a recurring cleanup problem. Ask whether the client wants it; most do once it is explained — and the lab requires the decision to be justified either way. Time entry enablement here connects to time entry profiles in Module 17. Several options here are effectively permanent once projects exist. Read before saving.
