Implementing Project Portfolio Management: From Organization Structure to Recognized Revenue · Module 3 · Organization Structures
Classifying organizations
Lesson 31 of 198 · 12 min
Open an organization and add the project and task owning classification. Add the project expenditure classification to a different organization. Add both to a third. Show the classification-specific attributes that appear, set the effective start date and note its consequence, and review the resulting classification matrix. THE EFFECTIVE START DATE ON A CLASSIFICATION MATTERS. Costs dated before it will not attribute to the organization. Backdate deliberately when classifying an organization that has history to migrate — this is failure case three and it surfaces during data load. Adding a classification later is easy. Removing one from an organization with history is not. Keep the classification matrix as a document. You will be asked to explain it.
