The decision you cannot undo

Most SCM configuration is adjustable. Three things in this module are not. One. The item master organization. Items are defined in it and assigned out to the organizations that use them. You choose it once, at the beginning, before any item exists, and there is no changing it afterwards — every item in the system is anchored there. Two. The organization structure below it. Adding an organization later is fine and normal — say that clearly, because it is what makes the rest survivable. Merging two organizations, or splitting one, after transactions and on-hand exist, is a data migration with a physical inventory count attached. People, counting things, in a building. Three. Subinventory and locator design, which is genuinely softer.
