The organization object model

Nine objects. The vocabulary defeats more people than the concepts do, so take them one at a time and then trace a single item through all of them. Location — the physical address. Inventory organization — a place that holds inventory; it owns on-hand balances, transactions, and organization-level item attributes. Item master organization — a special inventory organization that is the definition point for items, usually holding no stock. Manufacturing plant — an inventory organization with manufacturing enabled, able to run work orders. Subinventory — a physical or logical division within an organization: raw material, WIP, finished goods, quarantine. Locator — a position within a subinventory: aisle, rack, bin. Business unit — the operating grouping the organization belongs to. Legal entity — the owner of the inventory.
