The decisions you cannot undo

Most HCM configuration is adjustable: you get it wrong, you learn, you change it, life continues. Three things in this module are not. Legislative data groups. An LDG partitions payroll-related data, and a worker's payroll data lives inside one. Moving workers between LDGs after go-live means terminating and rehiring them, or a full data migration. There is no "change LDG" button and there never will be, because the data is partitioned at the storage level rather than filtered at the display level. Legal employer designation. The legal employer owns the work relationship, so changing which legal entity employs somebody is a termination and a rehire, with every seniority, continuous service and statutory consequence that carries. This is the concrete version of the earlier warning about conflating legal and management structures. Business unit boundaries — genuinely softer than the first two, and worth saying so rather than overstating it. But reference
